Grassroots zero waste campaign leader presenting at Zero Waste Pacific conference
The Guam Environmental Protection Agency today announced that Susana Laveti Evening, project coordinator for the Catholic Women’s League of Fiji, will be presenting at the Zero Waste Pacific conference.
Evening, and the Catholic Women’s League, helped women in Fiji learn about how to properly manage household waste and how to recycle. The goal of the campaign was to improve waste management in smaller communities on a grassroots level.
“Everyone interested in solid waste is encouraged to attend the Zero Waste Pacific training and conference,” said Guam EPA Administrator Eric M. Palacios. “We are excited to have dynamic presenters, including Ms. Evening, attending to share their stories and advice about how to expand the zero waste movement.”
Evening also serves as the Vice President of the Asia/Pacific Region for the World Union of Catholic Women’s Leagues Organizations (WUCWO).
Evening will be speaking on Thursday, May 8.
Registration for the training and conference is $650.00 per participant. Registration for the training and conference can be found on Guam EPA’s website..
Following the SWANA training and certification test, there will be a two-day workshop focusing on sustainable materials management in the Pacific. The conference will include presentations focusing on zero waste, capacity building and community-based environmental protection.
