Guam EPA commends Buena Vista for cleaning up illegally dumped cooking oil

The Guam Environmental Protection Agency today recognized Buena Vista Environmental LLC for assisting with the cleanup of illegally dumped cooking oil.

Buena Vista Environmental’s Jose Esteves and Fernando Esteves load illegally dumped cooking oil into their vehicle earlier this week. The cooking oil will be properly disposed of by Buena Vista.

Buena Vista assisted in cleaning up 13 five-gallon containers of cooking oil that were illegally dumped earlier this week. The company is permitted to accept fats, oil and grease (FOG) and non-hazardous contaminated soils.

Guam EPA Special Projects Coordinator with the Air and Land Division, MiChelle Taitano, helps load cooking oil into loading illegally-dumped cooking oil into vehicle. The oil was properly disposed of by Buena Vista Environmental LLC.

“We would like to extend our thanks to Buena Vista for responding to the situation and offering their services to protect environmental assets of our community,” said Guam EPA Administrator Eric M. Palacios. “As Earth Day approaches, we encourage all companies to incorporate ways they can contribute to our environment.”
