Oil spill cleaned up
Today at 9:50 a.m. Guam EPA emergency responders were called to the scene of a small oil spill in the Harmon Industrial Park behind Kmart.
Area businesses owners brought in three trucks of sand to absorb the oil. The sand was applied, and loaded into 55-gallon drums by a private contractor for disposal off island.
The area was cleaned by 2 p.m. and a final report of the incident will be given to Guam EPA by the contractor.
The source of the oil was a tank and is still being investigated by Guam EPA’s emergency responders and the Hazardous Waste Program.
Residents are encouraged to report oil, or other dangerous chemical spills immediately by calling 911.
