Guam EPA to participate in teambuilding; Offices closed from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28

Guam EPA will hold its first monthly teambuilding activity from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. The Administration and Operations offices will be closed to the general public during this time. Guam EPA recognizes that it’s important to eliminate, as best as possible, any impact that this monthly closure will have on its customers. In light of this, the Guam EPA offices, although closed during the regular lunch hour, still accepts and assists customers that need any type of assistance from noon to 1 p.m. — and many times after 5 p.m.

“It’s important for all staff to participate in wellness activities and, pursuant to the government’s approved wellness program, that is mainly what the monthly teambuilding activities are about,” said Guam EPA Administrator Eric M. Palacios. “Unfortunately, an overwhelming majority of Guam EPA staff do not avail of the authorized three-hours-per-week to exercise. The reasons for this are many, including dedication to completing daily tasks, being available to the community and meeting deadlines. So, in light of this, and in the interest of nurturing teamwork and camaraderie, Guam EPA will get together as a whole once a month.”

At no time will Guam EPA staff exceed the allowable number of hours per week to participate in physical activities through its wellness program.

“Governor Calvo and Lt. Governor Tenorio have stated many times that healthy, active employees will be happy, productive employees. Guam EPA is committed to promoting this ideal, while maintaining the highest level of customer service,” Palacios added.
