FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Guam EPA Soliciting Marine and Surface Water Quality Data Collected January 2019 – December 2023


 NOVEMBER 13, 2023 – (TIYAN, GUAM) – The Guam Environmental Protection Agency (Guam EPA) invites the public and all stakeholders to share available marine and surface water quality data collected from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2023. Guam EPA welcomes any water quality data collected through projects or monitoring and assessment activities performed on Guam’s marine and surface water bodies which include rivers, streams, marine bays, marine recreational waters, beaches and wetlands.

“If you or your organization have studied any of Guam’s marine or surface waters, or have conducted monitoring or assessment of a specific Guam waterbody, Guam EPA wants your data,” said Guam EPA acting administrator Nic Rupley Lee. “Data collected from January 2019 through December of this year will be used to comply with biennial reporting requirements for water quality standards, and listing impaired water bodies under Section 305(b) and 303(d) of the Clean Water Act respectively. ”

Interested parties who wish to share marine or surface water quality data with Guam EPA are urged to submit them to Guam EPA no later than 11:59 p.m. ChST on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Data may be electronically submitted to margaret.aguilar@epa.guam.gov.

Guam EPA will also accept mailed and hand-delivered data at our administration building in Tiyan located at 17-3304 Mariner Avenue Tiyan Barrigada, Guam 96913-1617. Hand-delivered data submissions will be accepted Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding government of Guam holidays. Fax submissions will not be accepted.
